Home of Football
2011 means England for Pelota. The origin of Football. The English breath football like no other. That is something we noticed during our trips to England. Children as well as parents are booming with enthusiasm and are real fanatics. Every young footballers dream is to become the next Wayn Roony. And the parents will do anything to realise there child’s dream. No doubt about it, football is England’s most popular sport.

Having said that we noticed some criticism on English football, especially about the English national team. The English are being drawn more and more to the technical Spanish and Dutch football. That is what they would like to see and enjoy in England too. And where better to start than with the youngsters. The Dutch influence is getting over to England more and more. For example, first there was the Coerver method. At the moment the English have also discovered the “nutmeg”, which is English for the Dutch word Panna. And to give the Nutmeg an extra boost, Pelota was asked to give some demo’s and shows in football mad England.

Mike, Matthew and Stojan all stunned the English, who were lost for words. They cheered on the the fast ground movements, followed by panna’s/nutmeg’s. For the English this was something new, but it didn’t take long for the Pelota players to be seen as idols.
The kids started to imitate the tricks that were done during the clinics. Again a very fun, useful and interesting week in England. A big thanks to Streetwisesoccer and Tekspeler Coaching Methode!
